To promote and support online Chinese language education, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (hereafter referred to as CLEC) of the Ministry of Education of China has set up an Online Scholarship Program for International Chinese Language Teachers (hereafter referred to as “the Scholarship”). Jilin University invites eligible candidates to apply for the “the scholarship” and study with us.
I. ELIGIBILITY
All applicants shall be:
1. non-Chinese citizens;
2. in good physical and mental conditions, with good academic performance and conduct;
3. committed to the Chinese language education, teaching and related work;
4. between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2021). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45 years old.
II. SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS
One-academic-year Online Chinese Language Study Course
The enrollment is in September 2021.
Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on HSK Test (Level 3). Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.
One-term Online Chinese Language Study Course
The enrollment is in September 2021.
Applicants shall have a HSK score.
Applicants of the above-mentioned courses who are currently working as Chinese Language teachers are exempt from providing HSK certificates if the institute they are working at provides incumbency certificates and recommendation letters.
III. SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE, TEACHING AND COURSE ARRANGMENT
Scholarship coverage: tuition fees
Teaching: online
Course arrangement: The courses are managed by School of International Chinese Language Education of Jilin University, mainly including intensive Chinese reading, Chinese listening, oral Chinese, Chinese writing, Chinese reading, etc. (Courses may be adjusted according to actual circumstances.)
IV. LIST OF APPLICATION DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
For all applicants
A scanned copy of passport photo page;
A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK and HSKK tests (within the two-year validity)
A recommendation letter by the head of the recommending institution.
In-service Chinese language teachers shall attach the incumbency certificate and a recommendation letter issued by the institute they work at.
Applicants under 18 years old shall submit a guardianship entrustment document signed by their guardians residing in China.
V. HOW TO APPLY
As from today, applicant shall log on the website of Jilin University (http://apply.jlu.edu.cn) to enroll in the program. All the required documents, including scanned passport photo pages, language certificates, etc., are to be uploaded. The program to be applied is “International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship”; the application type is “general study”; the major is “Chinese Language Study”. When online application is completed, please send your application number to admissions@jlu.edu.cn. Application ends by August 20, 2021.
VI. NOTES
1. Applicants shall understand JLU’s admission requirements, and upload application documents as per relevant regulations.
2. Scholarship shall be canceled on the condition that approved applicants drop out or suspend from the program, or the approved applicants’ attendance rate is lower than 70%.
