Introduction

The College of Animal Sciences was originally the Department of Animal Husbandry at Changchun Veterinary University, founded in 1987. The undergraduate Animal Science program was started in 1980 and the master’s degree program was started in 1982.

The College consists of 88 full-time faculty and staff members, including 18 professors, 16 associate professors, and 19 technicians. More than 10 professors hold positions in different national academic organizations serving in roles such as vice-president or as a standing committee member of a professional society.

The fields of research in the College cover molecular genetics and animal breeding, biotechnology of gametes and embryos, regulation of animal reproduction,  animal models of human disease and molecular etiology, laboratory animal quality detection technology, animal gene expression and regulation, and transgenic cloned animals.

2. Majors and Disciplines

Our college offers programs for different levels of education, including:

(1) Postdoctoral Training and Doctorate Disciplines:

-Postdoctoral Training: Animal husbandry, which consists of animal genetics, breeding and reproduction, animal nutrition and feed science.

-Doctorate Programs: Animal Husbandry Science, and Biology, consisting of zoology and biochemistry and molecular biology

(2) Master’s Level Disciplines:

-Academic master’s: animal genetics, breeding and reproduction, animal nutrition and feed science, zoology, biochemistry and molecular biology

-Professional master’s: Agricultural Master (in the field of Animal husbandry), Engineering Master (in the field of biological Engineering)

(3) Undergraduate Disinclines

-Animal Science, Biotechnology (Animal), Laboratory Animals

4. Research

The College has established 11 national and provincial institutes such as the Changchun National Laboratory Animal Center, the National Animal Science and Technology Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the Animal Embryo Engineering Jilin Province Key Laboratory, and the Animal Biological Engineering Jilin Province Key Laboratory. Since 2011, the faculty members of the College have published more than 240 papers (SCI); won 15 research awards, created 3 certified products, and received 20 patent authorizations.

5. International Collaboration Programs

The College is devoted to internationalization and has developed good cooperative relationships   with universities and institutions from many countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, and so on. International students are welcome from all over the world.
