Introduction
Our school intends to fulfill JLU’s mission of building a first-class, research-oriented university by enhancing the foreign language proficiency of all students at JLU. With high-caliber faculty and strong academic programs, our school stresses quality teaching and dedicated research in foreign language education. The School of Foreign Language Education (SOFLE) at JLU offers foreign language courses to all the students enrolled in different academic programs including undergraduates, graduate students, and students in adult education programs as well. The courses are mainly English language courses, although Japanese, Russian, French, and German language courses are also provided.
SOFLE consists of 15 teaching divisions. There are 350 faculty & staff members. Among the 327 language teachers, there are 41 professors, 102 associate professors, and 184 instructors. Prof. Zhan Ju is the Dean (jzhan@jlu.edu.cn) and Mr. He Qiang is the chair of the school council (heqiang@jlu.edu.cn).

Research
Faculty members at SOFLE are also dedicated researchers. In the past 10 years, they have engaged in 419 research projects, including National Social Science Fund research projects and Ministry of Education social science research. Our school has published 326 papers in CSSCI OPAC searching journals. In addition, many faculty members have been involved in compiling foreign language textbooks and dictionaries.
