On January 16th, 2018, the College of International Education organized 41 international students from 17 countries to visit the Changchun New Area Planning Exhibition Center and the Beihu Science Park. The visit was a follow-up to “Introduction on Exit and Entry Policies Promoting the Construction and Development of Changchun New Area” held in Jilin University on December 13th. After they learned the specific contents of the preferential exit and entry policies of Changchun New Area on attracting foreign talents, this visit enabled the international students to better understand Changchun New Area,, enriching their career options after graduation and creating more internship opportunities. It also aimed to cultivate more international talents who understand and respect China while promoting the internationalization of Changchun.

The three-story Changchun New Area Planning Exhibition Center was divided into 12 exhibition areas and 2 special functioning areas. First, the instructor comprehensively introduced the overall development concept, development implication, strategic opportunities and overall strategic layout of Changchun New Area. Then, a visualized demonstration was given on the innovation system, innovation achievements and industrial system featuring openness and innovation in the New Area. At last, a blueprint of development was showed to the students, presenting a grand vision of the future development of the New Area.

International students then visited the North Lake Science Park to gain a better understanding of the construction and development of the New Silicon Valley of Northeast China and the Zhongguancun of Changchun. The instructor highlighted the introduction of talents, the enterprises created by talents that had returned from overseas, as well as the innovation services for talents, and further introduced Beihu Science Park, particularly its talent attraction and talent policies. Meanwhile, the various technology products aroused great interest from the students as they tried to operate some of the products produced by the enterprises in the New Area.

The visit to Changchun New Area gave international students not only a more detailed understanding of the development plan of the New Area, but also an in-depth knowledge of policies encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and attracting talents in the New Area. In 2018, the College will continue to organize international students to study the new policies, so as to provide more opportunities for international students who wish to stay in the city after graduation and contribute to innovation and entrepreneurship.
