In June 2017, a graduation season full of the joy of gain and the unwillingness to leave, JLU organized a series of colorful events to create ceremonial and enjoyable moments for graduates.
On the morning of June 21st, international graduates from 31 countries and areas attended the 2017 JLU Commencement Ceremony, among whom 18 were honored as “JLU Excellent International Graduates of 2017”. On behalf of international students, Iatcyna Valentina, a Russian graduate majoring in international economics and trade from the College of Economics, gave a speech expressing her gratitude for and wishes to her alma mater, teachers and fellow students. After the ceremony, JLU Party Secretary Yang Zhenbin and President Li Yuanyuan talked with the international students and took photos with them.
On June 21st and 22nd, international graduates attended the Degree-Awarding Ceremony for JLU graduates of 2017. JLU produces a new group of talents for win-win cooperation and development between China and other countries: 228 international graduates, among them there are 14 PhD degree holders, 97 Master degree holders and 117 Bachelor degree holders.
On the afternoon of June 29th, farewell party for JLU international students of 2017 was held in the International Lecture Hall at central campus. JLU Party Secretary Yang Zhenbin, Deputy Secretary and JLU Vice President Wang Lifeng, former Assistant President, Director of the Medical Science Department and Dean of College of Clinical Medicine Science Professor Li Fan and representatives from related departments attended the party.
Faculties and students present first watched multiple painstakingly edited videos reviewing the enjoyable moments for the graduates. On behalf of JLU, Party Secretary Yang Zhenbin conveyed his wishes to the graduates. He expressed his appreciation as they chose to study in JLU, congratulated them on their good performance and graduation through hard work. He wished that the graduates were able to achieve many successes down the road and became envoys of friendship for China and their home country and made contributions to the world’s development. Faculty representative Yan Zhen from the College of Public Diplomacy expressed the hope that graduates could and wanted to engage in life-long study. He encouraged them to respond actively to our complex and changing time. Eyck from Ghana and Lombardi Sofia Roncayoli from Argentina, the two graduate representatives, made their speeches. Their heart was filled with gratitude and they wished JLU greater success and JLU faculties and students all the best. Later, international students performed Overseas Study in JLU, a painstakingly orchestrated sit-com. The micro movie Love Poem, directed and acted by these students was also played. Lively songs and dances were also performed, fully showing the friendliness, vitality and passion of international students.
Such a series of graduation season events made JLU more international, deepened international friendship and increased the international influence of JLU.
