Jilin University Helping Quake-hit Nepal

At 14:11, April 25th, 2015, Nepal was hit by an earthquake at a magnitude of 8.1 on Richter scale and with a 20-kilometer hypocenter depth. By the time this report was published, 7,000 people had died and 14,000 people were injured.

The Twenty-nine Nepalese students in Jilin University were concerned about their motherland and first proposed to make their contribution to the post-quake relief in the form of donation. College of International Education gave them full support. Then, these Nepalese students, together with International Students Association, carried out donations in Central Campus, Nanhu Campus, Nanling Campus and Xinmin Campus from April 29th to May 1st.

Teachers and students from colleges, schools and administrative departments on all campuses offered their donation as a token of their sympathy and support to the quake-affected Nepalese people. They also encouraged the Nepalese students to work hard on their study and be of great use to their country.

This donation raised a total of 56,372 yuan, embodying the spirit of helping all those in need followed by teachers and students of Jilin University. The money has all been transferred to the Nepalese Embassy in China.
