On November 2nd, 2014, College of International Education of Jilin University organized over 30 international students, including representatives of various countries from “Friendship Union”, the exchange students of “Campus Asia” program, and Confucius Institute Scholarship students, to visit the Mengniu Dairy Processing Plant in Shenbei New District, Shenyang. This social activity was initiated by the invitation from Mengniu Dairy Processing Plant and East-Asia Omnimedia Platform and aimed at helping the international students know more about China by directly engaging with a Chinese enterprise.
The event had two sessions: visit to the production plant and game of answering correctly and getting rewarded. In the first part, the international students visited the pre-treatment, canning, packaging and storage plant. In the pre-treatment plant of automatic processing, fresh milk is pre-heated, homogenized, flash distilled, cooled down, added ingredients to and sterilized. Here the international students could see the milk production process under staff’s supervision and control. They also saw transparent production plants, offices, rinsing centers cleaned every 15 to 20 hours, constant temperature storage between 0 to 8℃, monitor rooms equipped with a hundred monitoring screens and low-temperature and clean ice cream production plant. The clean, orderly and fully automatic process impressed the international students greatly and also proved that products of China’s food industry were safe and reliable. In the second session, the international students actively participated in “milk knowledge test”, a game that rewarded correct answers. This game allowed the international students to know more about milk, demonstrate their knowledge and deepen their understanding of each other.
Drawn by a cheerful song “Little Apple”, the international students went onto the stage and danced happily, which fully expressed their enthusiasm and friendliness. We ended this social practice activity amid great joy and laughter.
