2025/2026 Academic Year General Regulations of Enrollment for Bilateral Program of Chinese Government Scholarship at Jilin University (Type A)

Jilin University, founded in 1946, is a national key comprehensive university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education in China, and among the first batch of Project 985” and “Project 211 key construction universities. In 2017, it was rated as one of the first groups of A-level Double First-Classuniversities. In 2022, six disciplines were listed in the second-round selection of “Double First-Class universities and disciplines.

Jilin University offers a wide range of disciplines, covering 13 academic categories: philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medical science, management, art and interdiscipline. The university has a complete high-level talent training system with bachelor, master and doctoral programs, and more than 70,000 students on campus. With a focus on the goal of Double First-Class Initiative, the university has continuously optimized its global cooperation network and established partnerships with 310 universities and research institutions in 42 countries and regions.

The bilateral program provides full or partial scholarships for applicants in accordance with the agreements or consensus on education cooperation and exchange reached by the Chinese government and the governments, institutions, universities, and international organizations of other countries.

I. Supporting Categories, Duration, Majors, and Instruction Language

1. Supporting Categories: The program sponsors undergraduates, postgraduates for masters and doctoral degrees, general and senior advanced students. For details, please contact the international student dispatching department of the applicants home country.

2. Instruction Language: For undergraduates, the instruction language is Chinese; For postgraduates and advanced students, generally Chinese, and English classes can be offered for some majors.

3. Majors: Please refer to the Catalog of Majors for International Students of Jilin University (attached) for details.

Ⅲ. Application Method and Time

Applicants should apply to the international student dispatching department of their home country (usually the office of educational and cultural affairs of Chinese diplomatic missions) within a specified period, generally from early January to April. For details, please consult the international student dispatching department of your home country.

Ⅳ. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with good physical and mental health;

2. In terms of educational background and age, applicants must:

be an academically outstanding holder of high school diploma under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs;

be an academically outstanding holder of a bachelors degree under the age of 35 when applying for masters programs;

be an academically outstanding holder of a masters degree under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;

be a holder of high school diploma or above under the age of 45 when applying for general advanced students programs;

be a masters degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior advanced students programs.

3. For other specific conditions, please consult the international student dispatching department of your home country.

V. Application Process

1. For the application time, the number of the accepting institution, and other information, applicants should consult the international student dispatching department of their home country.

2. Applicants should log on to Online Application System of the China Scholarship Council for International Students (website: http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org), click on the Scholarship Application for Students icon to enter, fill in and submit the application information online, and print the Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form. Please select Jilin University as your first choice, of which the Number of the Accepting Institution is 10183.

3. Applicants should submit the application documents to the international student dispatching department of their home country within the specified period.

VI. Admission and Notification

1. The China Scholarship Council (CSC) will examine whether the applicants meet the requirements.

Unqualified applicants or application documents will not be accepted or handled.

2. The approved application documents will be forwarded to the relevant university for admission.

The CSC has the right to make appropriate adjustments to the university, major, supporting category, and duration of scholarship chosen by the applicant according to the requirements of the scholarship funded by the governments, the acceptance capacity of the host university, the required duration of study for the major and the qualifications of the applicant, etc., and the university will determine the admission result.

The university may advise applicants to change their major according to the application documents and other actual situations, and will then contact the applicant via the email address they have filled in their application. Please pay close attention to emails.

3. Scholarship recipients can study in China.

Upon the admission confirmation by the host university and approval by the China Scholarship Council, applicants are eligible for the Chinese Government Scholarship after passing a review and physical examination upon arrival at the university.

Each scholarship recipient can only receive funding from one Chinese government scholarship program.

4. Admission documents will be forwarded to the student.

Students can check the electronic admission materials: Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW201 form) on Online Application System of the China Scholarship Council for International Students.

5. Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change their study information.

Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change the university, major and duration of study as stated in the Admission Letter after coming to China.

6. Applicants must come to China for study by the deadline.

The recipient will be disqualified from obtaining the scholarship if he or she is unable to study in China by the deadline, unless due to external force majeure.
