Introduction

    The School of Marxism of Jilin University provides courses on ideological and political theories for all the undergraduates, master’s degree, and Ph. D. candidates at Jilin University. It also provides M.A. and Ph. D. programs focused on studies of Marxist theories. In 2003, our school was authorized to grant the First-level Discipline degreesin Marxist theories. The year 2007 saw the establishment of the postdoctoral Marxist theories research position. In 2011, our First-level Discipline of Marxist theories program became one of the Key Disciplines of Jilin Province.

    Constructing an open and international School of Marxism is one of our major goals. In order to achieve this, we have attached great importance to the internationalization of our teachers and students as well as our teaching methods. Many internationally renowned scholars have been invited to give lectures in our School while simultaneously encouraging our scholars to go abroad as visiting fellows to further their research and study and to attend international conferences. Nearly 20 faculty members have overseas experiences of more than one year. At present, three of our M.A. and Ph.D. candidates are in the United State of America and Australia as part of exchange programs. We are working on creating our own international exchange program.

Research

    We attach great importance to scientific research and our research has primarily been focused on topics concerning Marxist theories. We emphasize the production of high quality papers and have published papers in top journals such as Xinhua Digest, Social Sciences in China, Studies on Marxism, Cass Journal of Political Science, Chinese Social Science Digest, and more. We also seek to publish papers in international journals and until now 4 have been published, 1 of which has been indexed by SSCI. We have also received many high-level research grants, among which are 1 Key Grant and 14 general grants supported by the National Social Science Fund and 28 grants supported by the Ministry of education of Humanities and Social Science project. We won more than 50 prizes at the national and provincial levels. The research achievements exert an immense impact in our field.
