Hosted by China Scholarship Council and cohosted by East China Normal University, “Experiencing China – Dialogue on the Marine Silk Road” was held in Shanghai on the 11th and 12th of October 2019. 41 international students from 25 countries jointed the dialogue. 5 international students from JLU were invited to speak in the dialogue, including Kone Ibrahim, Chanthanileuth Vilaiphorn, Bassem Khaled Abdelsalam Elmaghraby, Ameyaw-Brobbery Thomas and Ranadive Sanika.
During the two-day academic exchanges, young students from different cultures and customs and speaking different languages communicated extensively on topics of “the culture and civilization”, “estuary and coast”, and “economy and trade” of the countries along the “marine silk road”. They also visited Shanghai and the surrounding areas to experience the achievements China had made since the opening and the reform.
International students from JLU made several academic reports, centering on two agendas – “The Maritime Silk Road and Cultural Exchange Across Regions” and “Building a World of Common Prosperity through Win-win Cooperation”. Their topics included “the economic development in China and Laos, the international relationship between China and Egypt, Ghanaian companies set up in China to push forward the cooperation between the two countries, China and India’s investment in infrastructure, etc. The reports from 9 international students were awarded the excellent reports of the forum, and Bassem Khaled Abdelsalam Elmaghraby from JLU was one of them.
In recent years, the international students from JLU have been fostering their academic ability and as a result they always do excellent jobs in various student forums.
