On October 24, College of International Education of JLU held a forum on the theme of “Carry friendship ribbon, maintain world peace”. Officer Sun Xianxiang from the Immigration Service of Changchun Municipal Public Security Bureau, together with other 4 representatives from overseas peace-keeping force, and 18 international students from 15 countries joined the forum.
Li Meihua, president of CIE, addressed the forum and extended her warm welcome to the representatives. She also explained the significance of the forum.
Diing Diing Dau Chol, a CIE student from South Sudan, showed the forum the customs, history, politics of his hometown. He elaborated on the relationship between South Sudan and China and expressed his gratitude for Chinese peace-keeping force and his love for China.
Following him, other international students had a very relaxing and enjoyable talk with the representatives about the customs and practices of their own home countries.
An Egyptian student Bassem said he appreciated China’s contribution to the world and he also cherished the chance to join the forum and have a close contact with the officers. Arabian was spoken by many African countries, such as his own country, where people were very friendly. Kerjok Farwel James Nyawelo, another student from South Sudan said he himself once served in the army and he knew the weight and mission on a soldier’s shoulder. He assured the officers that his people were very friendly to Chinese people, especially those who helped them rebuild their homes.
The officers were very glad to attend the forum before they were deployed. The students’ introduction to their hometowns helped them in many ways with their future mission.
The forum was presided over by Xue Lei, vice president of CIE. Finally, President Li expressed her wish that the flower of friendship would blossom in every corner of the world.
