From October 5th to 7th, College of International Education organized over 100 international students from over 30 countries to experience the culture of Ji’an.
College of International Education valued this activity very much. It planned in advance, organized the activity and arranged the itinerary. The students visited the Tomb of the General, also known as the Pyramid of the East for a long time, Haotai Wang Monument reputed as “the best monument in the world” as well as many relics such as murals in Wukui Tombs. Traveling by boat on Yalu River, they observed the different natural and cultural landscapes of China and North Korea on the two banks. They waved hands to people on the opposite bank, a gesture of kindness and a chance to interact with people from another country. The students also visited the Five Female Celestial Peaks and learned about the myths of “the five female celestials”. They were absorbed by the colorful and well-proportioned autumn view. Against the sound of streams flowing, the students walked idly and were impressed by the breath-taking natural beauty.
This trip to Ji’an is the fourth activity that College of International Education has organized for international students this year. Its purpose is to deepen their understanding of the Chinese culture via the cultural trip in the spare time of students busy with study and to relax them via direct exposure to the nature. After the trip, the international students thanked Jilin University for providing them with the chances to experience Chinese culture and expressed their expectation for life and study in China in future.
Personnel of the Admission and Management Office of International Students under College of International Education also took part in the cultural experience activity.
