Regulations on Visa and Residence Permit of International Students of Jilin University

Regulations on Visa and Residence Permit of International Students of Jilin University is formulated according to Law of the People’s Republic of China on Control of the Entry and Exit of Aliens and Administrative Orders of Ministry of Education for the Enrollment and Cultivation of International Students by Schools.

 

Article 1 According to Notice on Conditional Visas for International Students upon Attendance and Test Scores issued by Entry and Exit Administration Bureau of the Changchun PSB, international students with attendance rate of no less than 80% may be granted residence permit with validity of no less than a year, those with 60% to 80% of attendance rate may be granted residence permit with 6-month validity, and those with less than 60% of attendance rate may be rejected. The students with exam pass rate more than 50% in all subjects may be granted residence permit with validity of no less than a year, and others residence permit are with 6-month validity.

 

Article 2 All international students shall be aware of the validity of their residence permit, visas and registrations for temporary overnight stays. If not, they shall enquire JLU and local public security departments. Students who fail to ensure the validity shall be responsible for the penalties imposed by Entry and Exit Administration Bureau.

 

Article 3 International students with expired visas and invalid residence permit due to personal reasons shall also face penalties imposed by JLU apart from those by Entry and Exit Administration Bureau:

1. International students whose visas have expired for lass than 7 days may be given warnings or serious warnings based on the seriousness of the circumstances;

2. those whose visas have expired for 8-14 days may receive penalty of demerit based on the seriousness of the circumstances;

3. hose whose visas have expired for more than 14 days may face academic probation, academic dismissal or expulsion based on the seriousness of the circumstances;

4. those who have been detained by public security departments due to reasons such as expired visas or illegal residence shall be disqualified from JLU;

5. those who have received penalties of demerit twice or serious warnings for three times shall be disqualified from JLU.

 

Article 4 The aforementioned penalties will be archived. The information of international students who have received academic dismissal or expulsion will be reported to the Entry and Exit Administration Bureau, which may shorten or cancel their visa validity, and order them to leave the country within a certain time.

 

Article 5 JLU’s College of International Education reserves all rights of final interpretation.
