Introduction

  The China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University is supervised by the National Health and Family Planning Commission and affiliated with Jilin University which is under the direct jurisdiction of the Education Ministry of China. It is aAAA-classhospital (first-class in China), integrating medical care, education, research, disease-prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation into one institution.

  The Hospital was founded in November1949. Since its establishment 60 years ago, the hospital has made many excellent achievements. The Hospital is organized under a ‘one-headquarters and four-branch’ structure. It occupies 323,800 m² with a floor space covering approximately 320,000 m². The hospital has become one of the foremost medical centers in Jilin Province as well as in Northeast China in the fields of surgery, minimally invasive therapy, and precision tumor radiation therapy. At present, it has 4,019 employees, 3,386 in-patient beds and 51 clinical and medical technological departments. Our Neurology programhas beenrecognized by the Education Ministry as a key discipline; our Orthopedics, Otolaryngology and Neck Surgery programs are key promotional disciplines recognized by the Ministry of Health; our Hand Surgery and Urinary Surgery programs are all recognized asnational key disciplines. The hospital is home to the National CHD Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Training Base, the National Arrhythmia Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Base, the National Peripheral Vessel Interventional DiagnosisCenter, the Treatment Training Base, the Clinical Pharmacist Training Base, the National Health Management Demonstrative Base, the Chinese Medical Specialists of Neurosurgery Standardized Training Base, and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and Chinese Medical Specialists of Thyroid Training Base. It is also home to the National Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Training Base and the National Dermatology and Cosmetology Demonstration Base.
