Introduction
The Jilin University School of Public Health, previously known as the School of Preventive Medicine, was founded in 1958. The School started enrolling undergraduates in 1960. In June 2000, Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences became a part of Jilin University when it merged with some other universities. In June 2001, the School was renamed as the School of Public Health of Jilin University.
The School has developed into a cultivation base of professional experts who are specialized in teaching and research. The specialization covers medicine, management, and law. The School has four Divisions: Preventive Medicine, Radiation Medicine, Medical Informatics, Social Medicine and Medical Law, and is composed of 14 departments. Its departments include Epidemiology and Statistics, Occupational Health and Environmental Health, Nutrition and Food Science, Health Inspection, Health Toxicology, Children and Adolescent Health, Radio Biology, Radiation Injury and Clinics, Radiation Protection, Radiation Chemistry and Radiative Toxicology, Social Medicine and Health Management, Health Law, Information Management, Information Retrieval, Information Technology. It is home tow two experimental teaching centers, the Preventive Medicine Experimental Teaching Center and the Radiation Medicine Experimental Teaching Center.
Among the committed 147 faculty and staff members, there are 93 faculty members, including 32 full professors and 30 associate professors.
In the spirit of collaboration, the School of Public Health has established ties with various prominent overseas universities from places such asthe USA, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Over 80 of our faculty members have overseas experiences.

In recent years the School has made great progress in research and got undertaken has been given grants for more than 200 grants research programsincluding grants from 863 Program, grants from Program 973, grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and more. At the same time, the school has also produced over 1,500 publications, been awarded more than 10 patents, and received over 50 awards for our more than 70 books and monographs. Our Toxicology program has been ranked in the top 1 percent of essential science indicators globally.
The School has a fully accredited inspection center for radiation protection in China and an accredited inspection center for occupational hazards in Jilin Province.
