Introduction
The Department of Political Science, the predecessor of the College of Public Administration of Jilin University, was founded in 1983. It was the first department of political science since China's reform and opening up.
The College of Public Administration has a complete and comprehensive program for its disciplines. It has set up four departments: the Department of Political Science, the Department of Public Administration, the Department of International Politics, and the Department of E-Government. It has two postdoctoral programs dedicated to Political Science and Public Administration, two doctoral programs accredited as first-level disciplines, namely, Political Science and Public Administration, six doctoral programs in Political Theory, Legal Politics, International Politics, International Relations, Public Administration, and Public Governance and Policy. Apart from the above-mentioned programs, it has six master’s programs in Political Theory, Chinese and Foreign Political Institutions, International Politics, Public Administration, Public Governance and Policy, E-Government, and was authorized to grant MPA degrees. The College provides four undergraduate programs for Public Science and Administration, International Politics, Public Administration and E-Government. Among these, Political Theory is a key discipline in China and two first-level disciplines—Political Science and Public Administration—are recognized as key disciplines in Jilin Province.
The College of Public Administration has a strong team of teachers with 67 faculty and staff members including 50 professional teachers, 20 of whom are full professors and 17 of whom are doctoral supervisors. Over 60% of our faculty members have more than one year’s worth of overseas experiences as visiting scholars. The College has hosted over 10 well-known experts from United States, Japan, Russia, and South Korea as guest professors.

The College of Public Administration admits 120 undergraduate students, 100 academic MA students, 40 Ph.D. students, as well as over 100 MA students in the MPA program every year.

Research
Faculty members at the College of Administration have undertaken some key projects of philosophy and social science of Ministry of Education, major projects of National Social Sciences Fund, key projects of National Social Science Fund and other high-level science research projects as chief experts. A multitude of high-level landmark research findings has been produced, a high reputation has been earned in academia, and significant awards have been awarded to our school.
College of Public Administration faculty members have published a large number of papers on high-level journals (SSCI), such as Social Science of China, Xinhua Digest,and other well-known publications. The College of Public Administration has won all significant awards in the area of Humanities and Social Sciences, such as “The Five-Ones Project” Awards of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Prize for Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (for humanities and social sciences), Prize for Excellent Educational Materials of National Regular Institutes of Higher Education.
International Collaboration and Exchange
The College of Public Administration has been sending teachers to well-known universities overseas for academic visiting, as well as enhancing and broadening collaboration with foreign universities and research institutes. At the same time, the College also invites experts and scholars from United States, Russia, Great Britain, Japan, South Korea, and Ukraine for academic exchange, and engages celebrated foreign experts and scholars as visiting professors.
In the summer of 2009 and 2013, the College of Administration and Duke University co-organized the “Methodology Workshop for Chinese Political Scientists” which was highly appreciated by academics especially young scholars in China.
At the end of 2014, the post-graduate course of the College of Public Administration --Methodology of Comparative Politics was added to the list of “Introductory Plan for Overseas High-Quality Courses for Post-graduate Students at Jilin University,” which has been taught jointly by both Chinese and international experts.
