On the afternoon of May 31, Vice President Zheng Weitao met 6 delegates from Thai Embassy in China headed by Envoy Mongkol Visitstump. Relevant personnel from the Foreign Affair Office of Jilin Provincial Government, College of International Education, School of International and Public Affairs, and School of International Language Education also attended the meeting.
Vice President Zheng, first of all, welcomed the delegation to JLU and introduced the development of JLU and its endeavor for building the “double first class” university. He also introduced the education of overseas students in JLU in terms of enlarging scale and enhancing quality. He told the guests that JLU has 17 Thai students, most of whom are winners of Confucius Institute Scholarship and Chinese Government Scholarship, majoring in economics, international Chinese education and international relation and keeping excellent academic records. He hoped the envoy’s visit would become a chance to promote JLU to students in Thailand, push forward more practical cooperation between JLU and renowned Thai universities and attract more Thai students to JLU.
Envoy Mongkol Visitstump expressed his thankfulness for JLU’s warm reception. He pointed out that JLU, with beautiful campuses and good atmosphere for study, has established stable relationship with other universities from abroad. He hoped to know about the life and study of Thai students in JLU during his visit. He said that the Embassy of Thailand in China would support the cooperation between JLU and more Thai universities in various fields.
After the meeting, the envoy and his delegation visited Teacher’s Affair Hall of Central Campus, International Student’s Comprehensive Service Hall of College of International Education, international student’s apartments in Friendship Guesthouse, among other places.
