From July 29 to August 25, 22 students from the Confucius institutes of Argentine, Korean and Israeli universities joined JLU’s four-week summer class for Confucius Institute Scholarship awardees.
This summer class focused on Chinese language study and Taiji culture. JLU’s College of Int’l Education meticulously arranged the courses on Chinese language and traditional culture, including Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, Erhu (Chinese folk musical instrument), etc. School of Physical Education arranged courses on Taiji culture. School of Int’l Chinese Language Education scheduled many colorful extracurricular activities, such as lectures on traditional Chinese medicine and shadowboxing, and tours to experience Chinese tea culture, share books and visit JLU campuses, Jilin Provincial Museum, and Changchun Municipal Planning Library. On graduation ceremony, course teachers from School of Int’l Chinese Language Education and staff in charge from College of Int’l Education presented the graduation certificates to the students.
The students of the summer class are awardees of National Hanban Headquarters’ Confucius Institute Scholarship. They are from the Confucius Institutes of Argentina’s University of Buenos Aires, Korea’s Hanyang University and Israel’s The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Within the four weeks, the students felt by themselves the unique charm of Chinese culture and knew more about the development of Chinese society. At the same time, young talents from different countries converged and communicated in JLU to enhance their friendship and understanding about each other. By now, the Confucius Institute Scholarship has become a significant platform for int’l Chinese language learners to come to exchange in China.
