On the afternoon of October 10th, an event themed “Experiencing New Changes in Chaoyang in Celebration of the 19th CPC National Congress” was jointly hosted by the College of International Education of JLU and Chaoyang District Government of Changchun. 79 international students from 22 countries visited Chaoyang District Government. Dean Li Meihua from the College of International Education and Director-General Li Xiaotong from the Department of United Front Work of CPC Chaoyang District Committee attended the event.
The students first came to the Comprehensive Command and Dispatch Center and were introduced to how big data management was adopted to provide convenient services online and offline for people in the principle of building a service-oriented government. Later they rode to Deyuan Park to appreciate photos showcasing traditional Chinese culture and calligraphic works in Yixinyuan. They also visited the Culture Pavilion themed “Loyalty, Piety, Righteousness, Justice, Courtesy, Trustworthiness and Honesty” and listened to patriotic historic stories like “Su Wu Herding Ship”. In the Tielu Community of Qinghe Street, students visited the Service Hall offering one-stop services and the Recreational Center, and looked at photos on the achievement of party-building. They talked to community workers from time to time and were impressed by the government’s philosophy and measures of providing convenient services in an effective and swift manner.
Egyptian student BASSEM KHALED ABDELSALAM ELMAGHRABY said that both Egypt and China were ancient civilizations sharing many similarities and that he felt China’s rapid development and Chinese people’s passion and kindness through this visit. He also said that Egypt should learn from China. He hoped that the two countries had friendly ties throughout all generations.
This event is part of the effort by the College of International Education to advance party-building work in celebration of the 19th CPC National Congress. The purpose is to enable international students to know about China’s governance philosophy in the new era and under new circumstances and experience core socialist values and the essence of traditional Chinese culture. In the future, similar activities will be held to make more international students understand social development in China.
