In early March, Jilin University welcomed its new batch of international students for the spring semester. By March 18th, over 130 students from over 20 countries and regions reported for registration. All the new students in the spring semester are non-degree students, including general advanced students, senior advanced students and Chinese language advanced students. Some of them are inter-university exchange students, some are students on short-term programs and some applied individually.
Before their arrival, the international students received detailed materials from the university on registration time, processes and requirements. The university arranged vehicles to pick up and take them to the University safely and smoothly. The registration and reporting processes were standardized and thus more efficient. Thoughtful guidance was provided in such aspects as accommodation, visa, course selection, insurance and physical examination.
To help the international students to better understand China and fit in, the College of International Students gave an orientation for new students in the hall on the first floor of Friendship Guesthouse on March 10th. Three police officers from Exit-Entry Administration of Changchun Public Security Bureau were invited to brief the new students on relevant laws and regulations as well as visa matters. Teachers from International Student Affairs Office gave an orientation to the new students as well, explaining in detail matters concerning visa, insurance purchase and safety. Three teachers from the School of International Chinese Language Education introduced teaching arrangements and matters to be noticed. Heads of student clubs such as International Students Association explained their recruitment plans.
