In September, 2016, the Headquarter of Confucius Institutes rolled out the “Confucius Institutes on the Silk Road” Essay Writing Competition. It is learned that the headquarter received altogether 1,100 contributions from 62 Chinese colleges and universities and 29 overseas Confucius Institutes (Classrooms). Borodaevskay Mariya, a Russian student of Jilin University stood out with her essay My Educational Silk Road, My Confucius Institute and won the first prize.
Borodaevskay Mariya is a graduate of class 2015 in the program of Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages, School of International Chinese Language Education. Her writing described both her dreams and her life and study. She said she had a longing for China since childhood, and she wanted to know everything about China. Thanks to her persistent efforts, she was finally able to study in China. With the help of teachers and students, she overcame all kinds of difficulties along the way and loves China more and more. Borodaevskay Mariya believed her Silk Road had just began and she wanted to continue to live and study in China, her second hometown.
