The lecture hall in College of International Education was filled with laughter and presented a lively scene in the afternoon of February 11th. College of International Education, to enrich staying international students’ vacation life, hosted the New Year Gala, in which nearly 100 international students participated.
Professor Liu Debin, President Assistant, delivered a speech. He explained the origin of China’s traditional Spring Festival and Xiaonian (December 23rd by lunar calender, meaning Preliminary Eve). He earnestly stressed that the Spring Festival was an important traditional festival of Chinese family reunion. According to his speech, though international students are from different countries and have different customs, we are all a big family in Jilin University and thus we celebrate the Spring Festival together. His sincere wishes were applauded by the international students.
After the speeches, the international students went onto the stage and presented wonderful performances one after another. They also played games and drew lotteries. They were all in high spirits particularly when playing games, laughing, applauding and screaming. The tea party ended on a lovely and happy note.
