2018 JLU “Jin Dou” International Student Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held in the lecture hall of Friendship Guesthouse on Central Campus on the afternoon of March 14, 2019.

    To support JLU’s international education, Jin Dou Group established JLU “Jin Dou” International Student Scholarship in June 2017, aiming at awarding international students who are excellent in character and learning and encouraging international students to contribute to the friendly exchange between China and their own countries.

    In 2018, 172 students applied for the scholarship. After the recommendation by the schools they study in, the review of the scholarship reviewing group and the publicity in JLU, 79 outstanding students from 14 countries were awarded.

    In the ceremony, Jin Fengxiao, deputy manager of Jin Dou Real Estate Company, Zhang Guohua, assistant board chairman, Cao Li, deputy party secretary, awarded the certificates of honor to the international students.

    Li Meihua, dean of the College of International Education, expressed her gratitude in her address for the generosity of the enterprise. She also encouraged students to cherish the chance and study hard in China to live up to the expectations of the university and the enterprise.

    Bakht Shahzad, an international student from Pakistan, is a 2018 graduate student in JLU College of Earth Sciences, majoring in mineralogy, petrology and gitology. As a winner of 2018 “Jin Dou” International Student Scholarship, he first of all thanked Jin Dou Group and then expressed his pride as a JLU student. He is grateful for the care and encouragement from the enterprise and the university and ready to give them back to the society and become a bridge for China-Pakistan friendship.

    Lee Eunji, an international student from Korea, is a 2014 undergraduate student majoring clinical medicine (lectured in Chinese). She said that the scholarship relieved her of the economic burden and solved many problems during her study. The scholarship strengthened her belief that she would study further in China and contribute to the medical course after she finishes her study.

    Finally, the representatives of international students gave their message book to Jin Dou group to show their gratitude.

    JLU “Jin Dou” International Student Scholarship is the first scholarship from enterprise donation established in JLU solely for international students. It exerts a guiding and demonstrating effect. This year is the second year of the donation. College of International Education will strive for establishing more scholarships as a response to “One Belt and One Road Initiative” in order to strengthen the international communication, deepen friendship and foster more international talents who understand China and befriend China.
