From September 4th to 5th, 241 int’l students from 48 countries, including Russia, Korea, Japan, Argentina, Pakistan, Germany, India, etc., enrolled in JLU. Since the beginning of the month, altogether 448 int’l students from 65 countries have been admitted by JLU. The enrollment will last to mid-September.
To ensure a smooth enrollment process, College of Int’l Education (CIE) has made careful arrangements for reception and registration. To provide one-stand registration service to new int’l students, CIE cooperated with institutes on and off campus, such as School of Int’l Chinese Language Education, Department of Finance, the Int’l Communication Service Center of JLU Logistics and Service Group, Bank of China, China Mobile, etc. The needs for life and study in JLU of the new students were met. Hot tea was served and guidance for filling in bank forms at the waiting area was provided.
At the orientation site, members of Int’l Students’ Association of CIE worked as volunteers. They contributed their extensive and considerate service to the orientation by taking full advantage of their linguistic edge. What’s worth mentioning is that this is the first time that int’l students volunteers have been recruited by JLU Int’l Students’ Union. Students worked as volunteers to help and guide new arrivals. During the registration, volunteers worked enthusiastically to answer the questions from the freshmen so that they could better adapt to the life in JLU and feel the concern and warmth from their seniors.
On the afternoon of September 6, 2018 JLU Fall Semester Intn’l Student Orientation Meeting was held in Dongrong Conference Center.
CIE invited the Entry and Exit Management Bureau of Changchun Municipal Public Security Bureau, Department of Teaching Affairs, Students’ Psychological Health Guidance Center, the Int’l Communication Service Center of JLU Logistics Service Group among other relevant departments and over 240 new int’l students to the orientation meeting. The meeting was held in two sessions, respectively in English and Korean. An all-round introduction was conducted to the new int’l students about JLU, int’l students’ activity plan, visa management stipulations, teaching management stipulations, cross-culture adaptation, dormitory regulations, medical insurance, etc. Relevant Chinese laws and stipulations, JLU disciplines, residence permit extension, among other issues, were explained in detail. The activities of JLU Int’l Students’ Union and other int’l students’ societies were introduced. New int’l students were welcome to join those organizations and associations. Also on this meeting, CIE awarded and demonstrated excellent class notes so as to encourage new students to study hard.
The orientation aimed at guiding the int’l students positively, helping them get to know JLU and adapt themselves to life here quickly. It was believed that with such a good start, they would complete their study in JLU smoothly.
