In the meeting, international students of Jilin University talked freely with their Chinese homestay families. Though not fluent in Chinese, the students tried to speak with Chinese families and particularly the children about their stay in China, who also tried to talk with them in foreign languages like English, French and German about their study and daily life.
Despite the icy cold weather in northern China, international students and their homestay families felt warm in their heart. Every one was happy, and did not want the meeting to end. Some families already started to plan for the next meeting. Keeping up with the Belt and Road initiative, the meeting built a bridge between Chinese and foreign cultures. While displaying the image of China, it also boosted the Chinese culture on the global stage.
