On May 20th, 2017, the Golden Bean Scholarship for international students of Jilin University set by Jilin Golden Bean Group was inaugurated in the headquarters of Golden Bean Group. This moment was witnessed by Jin Mingnan, President of Golden Bean Group, staff of the group, Qi Guohua and Ou Shuo, Director-General and Division Head of the Office of Foreign Affairs under Changchun Municipal Government respectively, Li Meihua, Dean of College of International Education of Jilin University and some representatives of international students.
During the ceremony, the guests first watched a publicity video of Golden Bean Group and learned about its cooperation plan with Pakistan. President Jin Mingnan delivered a speech, the core message of which was “the great truth cannot be put into words and the great love knows no boundaries”. He said that Golden Bean Group proposed and established the scholarship for international students with the hope that it could, as its capacity permitted, help some people realize their dreams and contribute its due share to promoting people-to-people exchanges and understanding.
Dean Li Meihua presented how international education was going on in Jilin University. She extended her gratitude to Golden Bean Group for donating money to schools and offering scholarships in response to the national Belt and Road strategy; she also spoke highly of the distinctive vision of Golden Bean Group and its contribution to the building of a bridge of friendship between China and other countries; she expressed her belief that international students of Jilin University would also act as “ambassador of friendship between China and other countries”.
Jamali, the representative of Pakistan students in Jilin University, also delivered a speech and thanked Golden Bean Group and the exchange platform provided by the university. He expressed his willingness to contribute to China-Pakistan cooperation and said that Golden Bean Group would be welcome to visit Pakistan again and learn more about it. Pictures showing Pakistan students introducing their national conditions and customs were also displayed.
Qi Guohua, Director-General of the Office of Foreign Affairs of Changchun Municipality Government, delivered a speech. He praised Golden Beam Group for taking the lead in propelling the Belt and Road initiative and hoped that Jilin University could cultivate an increasing number of more competent international students who could promote deeper cooperation and exchanges as alumni of the university after graduation.
Golden Bean Group invited international students of the university to, during the time range of the scholarship, visit the amusement program that it invested in and built in Shengli Park. Following the inauguration ceremony, the guests had dinner together. Pakistan students sang national songs to express the profound friendship between China and Pakistan.
The Golden Bean Scholarship for international students of Jilin University was established by Golden Bean Group upon its negotiation with College of International Education. Golden Bean Group, under the support of the national Belt and Road initiative and Jilin provincial government, planned to invest in and develop projects in Pakistan. The scholarship was set to cultivate international students as talents needed by the project.
