2021 International Student Bridging English Program, JLU
Program Introduction
Bridging English Program is designed for international students whose English level is not high. It helps students enhance their English proficiency, shorten the period for adaptation, and smoothly become qualified for the admission of JLU. Those with excellent records can attend the on-campus interviews for bachelor or master programs that are taught in English.
Aiming at helping international students with their English proficiency and academic capability and cultivating their comprehensive quality, this program is designed by a team of excellent teachers from School of Foreign Language Education, JLU, covering courses ranging from preliminary English to academic English.
College of International Education is responsible for the admission and enrollment of the program and School of Foreign Language Education is responsible for teaching the courses. International students who get enough required credits will be conferred Certificate of Completion by School of Foreign Language Education, JLU.
Curriculum Introduction
※ Course Duration：
One semester：March, 2021– July, 2021
Teaching Arrangement：120 Periods/semester
※Curriculum Characteristics：
(1) At the beginning of the semester, the professional teachers in School of Foreign Language Education will carry out proficiency tests and requirements analysis on students. According to the students’ English level, professional analysis and guidance will be conducted, and appropriate adjustments on the course content will be made according to students' needs.
(2) Two levels are available：Basic Course and Advanced Course

1. Meet the training objectives and requirements for knowledge, ability and quality.
2. Complete the required courses, pass all examinations and obtain required credits.
(5) After Completing the Program：
Judging by the students’ academic performance within the program, we recommend qualified students for undergraduate programs in Medicine, Pharmacy, Diplomacy, International Economics and Trade.
Admission Requirements
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health aged 18-30, have graduated from high school.
2. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens, according to the Document of Ministry of Education of the PRC, must become foreign citizens before April 30,2016, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30,2016 to April 30,2020 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year).
Application Time and Registration
1. Application deadline for the fall semester: January 15, 2021.
Applicants must complete online registration before the deadline, and the university will feedback the admission results within 10 days.

2. The registration time is planned to be March 9-10, 2020. The exact time will be confirmed on the admission notice. Students should apply for an X1 visa at the Chinese Embassy. Usually a valid passport, admission notice, and JW202 form are needed for the visa application. Please come to Jilin University at the time specified in the notice with the above materials.

Application Procedures
Step One. Applicants should log in to the Jilin University International Student Online Application System (website: http://apply.jlu.edu.cn) within the specified time, register and fill in the application information, upload the required documents and submit the application.
Step Two. After the academic review, pay the application fee to the Online Application System. If one fails to make the online payment, then one MUST pay the application fee to the University’s Bank Account, and upload the remittance letter to the System.

Application Documents
1. Passport personal information page.
2. Senior high school diploma (original copy or notarized copy). Graduating high school students can provide pre-graduation certificate, after being admitted, the original must be submitted.
3. Transcript for all the courses in senior high school (original copy or notarized copy).
4. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens should submit (1) cancellation certificate of Chinese citizenship (2) current citizenship certificate (3) Exit and Entry Record on passport, from April 30,2016 to April 30, 2020.
5. Applicants under 18 (by September 1,2020) should submit (1) Letter of Guarantee, the guardian must be an adult living in Changchun (2) notarized Authorization Letter written by parents.
6. Remittance receipt of the application fee. (If any）
Notes:
1. Application documents in other languages must be translated in Chinese or English and notarized.
2. Application materials and application fee will NOT be returned regardless of the result of application.
3. Jilin University may ask the applicants to submit supplementary materials or take a telephone/video interview or written examination if necessary.
